part you cannot fix from the outside

Building a fence

On a normal run you dig where the fence goes. On a wall you cannot — the posts have to be set behind or through
the structure without disturbing the stonework holding the grade back, and the fence line has to follow the top of the
wall rather than the ground.
It also changes the finished height. Eight feet of cedar sitting on a two-to-three-foot stone base gives the property
considerably more screening than eight feet would on flat ground, which is the point on a lot where the neighbouring
houses sit above you.

Materials

A cedar fence in Plano, TX faces the same black clay soil as the rest of the Metroplex, which is why the posts are 13-

set, the crew framed the sections, hung the pickets board on board, and finished with the baseboard, caps, trim and
gate.
811 was called before any digging so public utility lines were located and marked in advance. There is a gas meter set
into the stone wall along this run, which is exactly the situation that makes locating non-negotiable.
